Mobile Web Applications
Overview
From February to July 2001, I worked for mobileX, a company dedicated to mobile web applications. mobileX, whose staff has mainly an academic background, develops software solutions for clients like Compaq and IBM.


Projects and Technology
I was involved in three projects during my stay with mobileX. All projects were related to mobile web applications and Java. This list illustrates the projects and my responsibilities:
  • Mobile Payment
    • Refactoring and extension of the SMS (Short Message Service) system
    • Logging
    • Watchdog: server observation and automatic failure notification via SMS and eMail
    • QA: unit testing

  • Mobile order placement system
    • Component based design
    • Implementation using Java, TCP, Swing, database access

  • Mobile solution for field engineers
    • OOA/OOD with UML
    • Generic creation of business objects based on scanning HTML pages
    • Java business logic classes
    • Java Server Pages (JSP)
    • HTML and JavaScript (PocketPC IE)
